I have a VERY IMPORTANT message for you today. It borders on the side of rant, actually. Here’s the deal:
No amount of diet and exercise or any other “change your body composition or lose weight” template will EVER work if you hate your life. If there’s other “stuff” going on in your life which — there ALWAYS is — that’s where you must start.
First, you have to ask the question:
If you hate your job or your house or your friends or your husband or… or… or … THAT is where you start. You don’t pile a body composition goal on top of these core issues going on. These core issues are WHY you are facing body composition issues in the first place. Waiting to change these issues — or worse, not facing the real stuff at all — only equals more weight issues.
Sure, changing the top layer will work for while — many of you have already accomplished this in your life at one time or another — but it never gets you where you need to go for the long haul. You might not want to “go there.” But I assure you — if you do not — you will not reach anything else of stature for very long.
Make no mistake, I need to learn & practice this as much as you do. I’m human. I am not perfect and never will be. It’s happened in my life just as much as it’s happened in yours.
We need to respect what’s really going on in our lives. And create intentions followed by actions to make the changes that REALLY need to be made.
This “thing” you’re after, whether it’s health, fat loss, to fit into ‘x’ size jeans whatever — it cannot be fixed with reps and protein and low carb and gluten free and blah blah blah. I’m not saying those things aren’t important or won’t make a difference. They will, no doubt. However, that isn’t usually the starting place.
Start doing the deep work. It pays off.
