I don’t know about you, but every food and exercise torture, I mean, diet, I’ve ever put myself on has been a complete nightmare in the end. I think back to the white knuckling through eating food I didn’t want to eat while depriving myself of the stuff I did want and “working out” in ways I absolutely hated (like running!)
No matter how many sizes or how much weight I lost or even if I was able to “keep it off” for a decent period of time — it was always coming back eventually PLUS some.
Eventually, I became educated enough to know that a full blown “die-t” — the kind where we throw everything we know out the window on January 1 and introduce 50 new things into our life (new foods, recipes, workout plans, schedules, etc,) — will never work for me.
There is a small percentage of people out there on the planet (where, I do not know) that can adopt a whole new lifestyle at once, and through trial and error, make it work for them long term. If you are one of those people, awesome. However, I will mention, going “all in” AND staying there rarely does happen, even to “those” people.
What “those” people have done is actually figure out the secret to this whole thing. They’ve discovered how to make it (whatever *it* was) work for themselves long term. And that’s the secret to being FREE when it comes to your body, your health, and your life. It’s what we’re all on a mission for. Some of us just don’t know it yet.
Back to changing 50 things at once. That doesn’t work for me.
It likely doens’t work for you if you’re still reading this.
I’ve found that small, consistent changes and by using The MECS Method is what works for me, my life, and my body. Over the last few years, the changes I have implemented using this approach are still part of my daily routine. The actions were simple like drinking 2 Liters of water a day and going for a daily walk. Imagine making a meaningful change that you actually DO and are still doing 3 years later.
That’s worth it to me. Google the benefits of drinking adequate water and walking daily, and I think you’ll feel the same.
AND ….what if the change wasn’t really that disruptive to your life like the 50 new rules method? I mean, I’ve been THAT girl in the super market with a diet book open buying all new foods that never made it into my body. I was so overwhelmed I quit before I even began. What a waste of money, time, and willpower.
What if real change was a little challenging, but still fit into life really well? What a concept! Guess what … it DOES exist.
NO DIETS ON JANUARY 1
So…Let’s NOT go on a diet Friday, January 1 or Monday, January 4th (don’t tell me you weren’t thinking that!)
I’m keeping with meaningful lifestyle changes. The long term ones. I already know what works and doesn’t work for my body after much trial and error. You probably do, too. I know what I have to do yet, what I WANT to do yet. What will lead me to even better health which ultimately transfers to the way I look. I will choose something meaningful and practice.
Do you want to do that too? You can.
Do you know what this kind of mindset does for us?
This work doesn’t solve our weight problems; it addresses WHY we have them.
If that’s the kind of change you’re in for, you’re in the right place. Stick with me as a take you on a journey that will change the way you live and look at yourself for 2016 and really …. the rest of your life.
You have a greater chance at choosing ONE THING for success and committing to it consistently than you do with picking yet another new diet plan and spending the next 4 weeks (6 weeks if you’re lucky) devoting a ton of willpower to “figuring it all out.” You know full-well most of those things will not be part of your routine next year at this time.
You’re better than that!
Don’t you owe it to yourself to do something for REAL this year? NAME IT. DO IT. This is our year of ACTION.
